Kinship Circle On Standby For Animals Kinship Circle Disaster Animal Response Team is monitoring animal impacts from Oklahoma's tornado. We've contacted emergency management agencies, local animal shelters, mayor/city managers and VOAD groups at state and municipal levels (cities of Moore and Norman) to offer assistance for animal victims. We are on standby, awaiting their assessment about needs for out-of-state animal aid.
Kinship Circle activates volunteer teams if officially asked for animal search-rescue or emergency sheltering. In the U.S., written authorization is required before any nonprofit can enter a disaster zone. For Hurricane Sandy, we sent animal aid teams under agreements with Atlantic County and Middlesex County offices of emergency management.
We are aware, as one survivor noted, of the "level of destruction to animals" in the storm's path. In addition to companion dogs and cats, there are many horses and other large animals in this area.
JUNGLE FRIENDS: A LAND OF SECOND CHANCES
A monkey who really likes you will go all goofy. A tiny hand drums the spot over his heart. Each unique gesture underscores the horror some endured before they got here. Kinship Circle's volunteer stint at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary moved us to support their refuge for primates from research, entertainment, pet trade. HERE'S YOUR SMILE FOR TODAY: WATCH LAND OF SECOND CHANCES, A MUSICAL PHOTO STORY.
NEW LITERATURE TO DOWNLOAD: HLS - CAUGHT
Kinship Circle is working to stop cruelty inside Huntingdon Life Sciences, among the world's largest animal test labs, where some 500 animals are killed daily. We're recharging campaign efforts, so look for new HLS alerts, literature and demos. It's not science. It's violence. Time to end it.
HURRICANE SANDY: "THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE!" We'll never forget your kindness. Life isn't life without Nanook. Thank you for being there. Giant waves trapped them on the 2nd floor of their home. That's how Kinship Circle came to know Nanook and Christy… MORE. Among the first to respond for Sandy animals, Kinship Circle did search-rescue and sheltering for Atlantic and Middlesex Counties, NJ. In January, the state veterinarian invited us to a statewide Animal Emergency Working Group to help develop a coordinated animal emergency response plan.
This movie expresses Kinship Circle's core beliefs on animal use/abuse and how to effectively argue against it. A year's gone by since Ethel was taken. A killing is different: Time never heals. It distracts, until the next wave of sorrow. With the fur kids safe at home, I left for just an hour. I never saw Ethel again… ►►
Nanook was marooned on a second floor with his family. That's how Kinship Circle came to know the Chi-Dachshund, despondent after his ordeal. But in Feb, his person-mom Christy told us… ►►
