fur-free or not?
UPDATE: Escada Begins The New Year With Fur Deleted. 10/2010: Kinship Circle, with animal advocacy groups worldwide, pressured Escada to sell cruelty-free couture instead of fur garments constructed from violence and death. Escada press rep Frank Elsner says, “Starting with the Spring-Summer 2011 collection, in stores January 2011, Escada stops using fur, including rabbit and Karakul (Persian lamb). This decision is valid for an unlimited period.” Our members persistently asked Escada to clear its shelves of animals killed by genital electrocution, cervical dislocation (neck popping), lethal injection of pesticides or other junk chemicals, asphyxiation from unfiltered carbon monoxide, and steel jaw leghold traps.
- Editorial NoteEscada is back. With fur. Still hideous, fur. Real fur returns to the designer clothing brand Escada, after a brief respite in 2011. The label backpedals on its pledge with mink-trimmed shoes and raccoon dog collars on jackets. A little fur is a lot of cruelty. Animals farmed for fur are scrunched into small dirty cages before electrocuted, bludgeoned or gassed to death. Some remain conscious when skinned… ACT: Please ask Escada to join the fur-free revolution once again and stop selling fur immediately
